This afternoon, around 4 pm, the sunshine was simply too inviting to ignore. The light coming through the window had that gentle warmth—one of those early spring signals that says, “Go outside, enjoy it while it lasts.”
I suggested to Julie that we go for a walk and soak in the sunlight. As always, she had a better idea.
“Why not go to Sussex Park?” she said. “It’s time to see the cherry blossoms.”
That was all it took.
We set off on foot, enjoying a comfortable 30-minute walk from our home. No rush, no pressure—just a steady pace, breathing in the fresh air. These small walks, I find, are becoming more meaningful than any grand outing.
When we arrived, the park was calm. Not crowded, just a scattering of people—families, a few couples, some individuals like us, quietly appreciating the season.
And then, the cherry blossoms.
From a distance, they were already welcoming—soft pink clouds lining the trees, almost like nature had decided to decorate the park for a celebration. Up close, they were even more beautiful. Delicate, gentle, and quietly confident in their short-lived glory.
We took a few photos—not just to remember the scene, but to capture those simple moments of joy. These are the kind of moments I like to share with you, my readers. Nothing fancy, just real life as it unfolds.
Looking back at the day, it was actually quite a balanced one.
In the morning, Julie and I went to Markville Mall for our routine walk. It has become part of our lifestyle—keeping active in a comfortable environment, especially when the weather is still unpredictable.
Lunch was simple, not anything “fabulous,” but nicely balanced in its own way. We had a crispy chicken burger from Harvey’s, paired with steamed minced pork with rice from Lucullus Café.
A small East-meets-West combination on one table.
It may not sound like a gourmet experience, but it reflects something I’ve come to appreciate more over time: balance, variety, and contentment in simple choices.
From a mall walk in the morning, to a quiet park visit in the afternoon, to cherry blossoms and casual meals—today was not extraordinary.
And yet, it was.
Because at this stage of life, I’m learning that joy doesn’t need to be big. It just needs to be noticed.
