Paris Baguette at Hillcrest Mall — inviting and full of life
Today was a slower day by design.
After yesterday’s pleasant 20-minute walk under warm sunshine and a light breeze, my legs—calves and thighs—felt a bit tired, and my lower back reminded me to take it easy. So instead of pushing forward, I chose a gentler pace.
Julie and I went to Hillcrest Mall in the morning. While she went off to pick up our usual Tim Hortons coffee and a bagel with cream cheese, I sat quietly, letting my body settle into the day.
It turned out to be a good decision.
As the morning went on, the stiffness eased, the heaviness in my legs faded, and even the back pain gradually disappeared. Sometimes, the body simply asks for patience—and rewards you when you listen.
While taking a slow walk inside the mall, something caught my eye: the storefront of Paris Baguette.
There was something immediately appealing about it. The space felt ambient yet vibrant—bright, welcoming, and full of life without being noisy or overwhelming. Inside, many people were seated comfortably, enjoying cakes, pastries, and warm drinks. No one seemed to be in a hurry.
A colorful display of fresh pastries and cakes
In a place like a shopping mall—where movement is constant and often rushed—this stood out. It wasn’t just a bakery. It felt like a small pause in the middle of a busy world.
People weren’t just buying food; they were taking a moment.
Watching from outside, I found it quietly uplifting. Perhaps this is something we often overlook in daily life—the value of slowing down, even briefly, to enjoy where we are.
Behind the scenes — quiet dedication in every detail
Today, I did not go in. But maybe next time, Julie and I will sit there for a while, have a coffee, and simply enjoy the atmosphere.
My morning coffee
Sometimes, a gentle day, a light walk, a simple meal, and a small observation are more than enough.
And sometimes, they are exactly what we need.
