This morning I woke up feeling rested after a good night’s sleep. The energy level was better, and the legs felt light again — always a reassuring sign.
However, the weather had other plans. Freezing rain overnight left water on the ground turning into ice. Sidewalks and roads were slippery, making an outdoor walk risky. At my age, a fall is something I prefer to avoid.
So I decided to adjust the plan.
Instead of walking outside in the morning, I stayed home and moved slowly through the start of the day. I checked my blood pressure, which came in a bit higher than ideal but still acceptable. My pulse remained steady, and most importantly, I felt fine.
Sometimes recovery is not about pushing forward but about making small, sensible adjustments.
If conditions improve later, I may head to Hillcrest Mall for a light indoor walk — a familiar and safe place for many of my daily steps. Otherwise, it will simply be another quiet day of light activity, hydration, and a little blogging.
During these few recovery days, I have noticed something interesting. The body has its own pace for healing. Sleep helps. Gentle movement helps. Patience helps.
There is no need to rush.
My AI companion reminded me earlier that strength often returns through small, steady steps. I think there is truth in that.
So today continues the same approach: listen to the body, move carefully, and allow recovery to unfold naturally.
Sometimes the journey back to strength is simply about walking when the ground is safe.
