RIVER OF ICE at Niagara Falls (Part 1, Feb.26, 2019)
Environment Canada has placed Toronto and the entire GTA under both a wind warning and a blowing snow advisory. Strong southwesterly wind gusts could reach 110 km/h Sunday afternoon into early evening. These potentially strong gusts could cause damage to power lines. Areas with trees located near wires should take extra precaution as fallen branches that make contact with power lines could cause extended outages in affected areas. In addition to the heavy winds, the GTA is expected to get two to four centimeters of snow tonight, creating the potential for poor visibility on the roads.
In the event of downed power lines, stay at least 10 meters away (the length of a school bus), and call 911 immediately.
If you experience a power outage, you can find frequent updates on Alectra Utilities’ Twitter channel @AlectraNews or visiting the outage map on our website: www.alectrautilities.com
To report outages, Alectra Utilities’ customers should call 1-877-963-690
