👉 Why I want to leave my stories behind

One Restaurant, One Story, One Friendship at a Time

Grandpa Journey — A Little Advertising. A Little Friendship. A Lot of Heart.

Sometimes, a small idea grows out of an ordinary day.

Today, after returning home, I looked at a photograph of Julie and me taken during a restaurant outing. It was a lovely memory of the two of us sitting together, with a birthday cake in front of us and other diners enjoying their own meals around us.

I decided to put the photograph in the sidebar of Grandpa Journey and link it to the restaurant世紀豪宴 Century Banquet .

It was a simple gesture. The restaurant would receive a little extra exposure through my blog, and I would have another way to share a pleasant memory with my readers.

Then I began thinking about something bigger.

A Little Help for Restaurants

Running a restaurant is not easy. Owners have to deal with food costs, rent, wages, utilities, and many other expenses. During difficult economic times, even a good restaurant can struggle to attract enough customers.

I wondered whether Grandpa Journey could do something small to help.

What if I offered complimentary advertising to selected restaurants that Julie and I visit and appreciate?

There would be no advertising fee and no obligation to buy anything. I could share a photograph, write a few words about our experience, and provide a link to the restaurant.

Of course, a blog post cannot guarantee more customers. But it might introduce a restaurant to someone who has never heard of it. Sometimes, a little exposure is better than none.

I am not trying to build a large advertising business overnight. At this stage of my journey, I would rather begin with something simple, useful, and meaningful.

More Than Food on a Table

For Julie and me, visiting restaurants has always been about more than eating.

There are morning coffees, lunches after our activities, conversations with friends, and occasional dinners with old classmates. Sometimes we discover a new place. Sometimes we return to a familiar restaurant because we enjoy the food or the people there.

Each visit has its own little story.

A bowl of noodles can remind us of a pleasant afternoon. A cup of coffee can accompany a conversation with an old friend. A restaurant gathering can bring classmates together after many years apart.

These are ordinary experiences, but ordinary experiences often become the memories we treasure most.

Why not share some of them with others?

If a restaurant has treated us well, perhaps we can return a little kindness by telling its story.

I will share my genuine impressions rather than promise that every restaurant is perfect. Readers deserve honesty, and restaurant owners deserve to be represented fairly.

That is how trust begins.

One Restaurant, One Story, One Friendship at a Time

I have decided that there is no need to rush.

I can start with one restaurant, one story, and one friendship at a time.

Julie and I will continue enjoying our outings. When we visit a restaurant that we would like to support, I may write a short story about our experience and offer the restaurant a complimentary link on Grandpa Journey.

Some stories may be about the food. Others may be about the people, the atmosphere, or the memories created around a table.

I do not know where this little project will lead. Perhaps some restaurant owners will appreciate the gesture. Perhaps readers will discover places they would like to visit. Perhaps new friendships will develop along the way.

There is no guarantee of any of these things, but we will never know unless we begin.

At my age, I have learned that not every worthwhile activity needs to start with a grand plan. Sometimes, it is enough to take one small step and see what happens.

A Little Advertising. A Lot of Heart.

Grandpa Journey began as a place to preserve memories and share experiences. As it grows, I would also like it to become a place where people can help one another in small, practical ways.

Advertising does not always have to begin with a price list or a sales pitch. It can begin with appreciation, a personal story, and a willingness to help.

If this idea develops over time, I hope it will benefit both local businesses and the community around them. Any future paid advertising can be considered separately, when the time is right.

For now, I am happy to start with a photograph, a restaurant link, and a simple thought.

One restaurant. One story. One friendship at a time.

That is how I would like Grandpa Journey to move forward.

And who knows? The next cup of coffee Julie and I enjoy may give us another story worth sharing.

Until then, let's keep walking through life together, one little journey at a time.
