Grandpa Journey Traffic Review: August vs. July 2026

 

August brought a big jump in traffic to Grandpa Journey.

According to Google Analytics, the blog recorded 8,906 sessions from August 1–30, compared with 3,716 sessions in July — an increase of almost 140%.

At first glance, that looks impressive. But looking more closely, I have to be candid: the numbers are not as exciting as they first appear.

More than 8,100 sessions landed on the /search page, almost all classified as direct traffic. Engagement was very low, averaging only about nine seconds. This unusual pattern suggests that a significant portion of the traffic may have been automated or otherwise not representative of genuine readers.

The real story is found in the individual posts. My stories about Jack So, old friends, family, ChatGPT and everyday life continued to attract readers. Canadian visitors were particularly encouraging, with much stronger engagement than the overall average.

Google search traffic is still tiny. Blogger statistics showed only a handful of visits from Google during August, although this was a small improvement over the previous month.

So, my honest conclusion for August is simple:

Traffic increased dramatically, but genuine readership has not increased by 140%.

I am not disappointed. Grandpa Journey is not a traffic factory. It is becoming a collection of my memories, friendships and experiences — one story at a time.

I will keep writing, keep collecting my memories, and let the traffic take care of itself.

For Grandpa Journey, the stories matter more than the numbers.

Grandpa Journey 2026年8月流量回顾：比7月增长140%，但数字背后还有故事

8月份，Grandpa Journey的访问量明显增加。

根据Google Analytics的数据，8月1日至30日共有 8,906次访问（sessions），而7月份为 3,716次，增加了约 140%。

乍看之下，这是一个很漂亮的增长数字。

不过，仔细看看数据，我还是想诚实地说：实际情况没有数字看起来那么令人兴奋。

8月份超过 8,100次访问来自网站的 /search 页面，而且几乎全部被记录为Direct流量。与此同时，这些访问的互动时间非常短，大约只有9秒。

这种异常的流量模式，很可能有相当一部分并不代表真正的读者。

所以，我更愿意关注真正的文章访问量。

8月份，我写的 Jack So、老同学、老朋友、家庭生活、ChatGPT以及YouTube 等故事，都有读者阅读。其中，加拿大读者的互动表现尤其令人鼓舞。

Google搜索带来的访问目前仍然很少。不过，与前一个月相比，Blogger统计中来自Google的访问已经从一两次增加到大约五至七次。

这是一个非常小的进步，但我觉得值得继续观察。

因此，我对8月份的总结很简单：

流量增加了很多，但真正的读者并没有增加140%。

我并不失望。

Grandpa Journey并不是一个追求流量的网站。对我来说，它更像是一本正在慢慢写成的个人回忆录——记录我的朋友、同学、家人、生活经历，以及这些年来让我难忘的人和事。

我会继续写，也会继续收集这些故事。

至于流量，就让它慢慢来吧。

对Grandpa Journey来说，故事比数字更重要。
