English
Yesterday was one of those days that reminded us how simple gatherings can create lasting memories. Our La Salle Old Boys picnic took place at Thomson Memorial Park in Scarborough, and although the forecast hinted at rain, the spirit of camaraderie outweighed any worries.
We packed ourselves into a trusty Honda CRV SUV, chatting and joking as we made our way to the park. The sky was overcast and breezy, but the mood inside the car was cheerful. For many of us, these reunions are rare opportunities to reconnect, share life stories, and relive youthful bonds.
By the time we arrived, the aroma of food filled the air. Lunch was served at 12 noon sharp, and the organizers had outdone themselves. The spread included BBQ pork, smoked salmon, roasted chicken, fried rice, fried noodles, beef balls, fish balls, vegetables, and fresh fruits. To wash it down, there was watermelon, Coke, iced tea, Starbucks coffee and bottled water—all in abundance.

The organizers had prepared for 300 participants, but perhaps the weather warnings kept some away. In the end, about 200 showed up. The smaller crowd meant more space and more food for everyone—nobody left hungry.
What stood out wasn’t just the food, but the atmosphere. Groups gathered, laughter filled the air, and stories flowed—school days, old pranks, teachers we admired (or feared), and life journeys since then. Despite the gray sky, the picnic ground felt bright with warmth and joy.
Around 1:30 pm, people gradually started packing up. Some had long drives ahead, others wanted to avoid possible rain. We left then as well, and by the time we got home, it was already 2:00 pm.

Looking back, the day wasn’t just a picnic—it was a renewal of friendship. Thanks to the organizers for their hard work, and to everyone who came. It was truly a day of fun, warmth, and memories. Until next time, we’ll carry these moments with us.

Canadian Senior Drivers BE READY! Major Driving License Updates

A Year After Brain Surgery: My Journey of Recovery and the Vital Lesson of Listening to My Body

On March 13, 2024 I was lying in St. Michael’s Hospital, undergoing surgery for a subdural hematoma—a condition I never imagined would happen to me. Today, as I reflect on my journey, I am filled with gratitude for the steady recovery I’ve made, the invaluable lessons I’ve learned, and the unwavering support of my incredible wife, Julie. Her love, patience, and personal care during my darkest moments were nothing short of heroic. This story is as much about her as it is about my recovery. The Wake-Up Call: Recognizing the Signs Before my diagnosis, I experienced subtle but persistent symptoms that I initially brushed off.
