Friend:
A lot of work.
David:
Just keep active physically. Thanks.
Friend:
Be aware that you are not as young as you were. Know your limit, don’t hurt yourself. There is work for yourself and work for others. In Winnipeg, there are deaths from heart attack every first snowfall of the year including my colleague in his early ‘50, apparently in good shape.
David:
Thanks for reminding. I worked about 1 hr each day in the yard at oldman pace.
Friend:
Did you cut the branches yourself? I will tell you a horror story. One of my colleagues in Winnipeg, cut himself on the face when it flipped over while cutting a stubborn tree branch. He was in his 40’s and was in the construction force. Therefore, he had experience dealing with tools. There was another colleague who cut his fingers off with an circular saw. His dog was nearby. He had to fight with his dog for his fingers. It sounds funny if it did not happen to you. I have a lot of respect for electric tools. I have not used one for a long time other than an electric drill. As you get older, the eye sight, hand movement, reaction time and judgement all deteriorate. I refused to accept aging in my 50’s and 60’s but now have to face reality. When classmates get together, I only see old men. I wonder many times who the old man is in the mirror. It is not me!
David:
Thank you for your concern. Yes, we are aging and the body tells the truth as we feel it. I will take your advice. Let us keep and stay safe. Again, thanks to my long time good friend.
